Synopis:
Going back to its edgy and sharp roots, Paper Wing Presents "Smudge", a play authored by Rachel Axler, a two time Emmy award winner. “Smudge,” is a very dark comedy which aims to be part horror movie, part domestic relationship drama. A baby arrives unbearably deformed. Nick, the father, bonds with the unseen character in the pram encircled with tubes and lights, and names her Cassandra. Colby, the mother, attempts to protect herself from the agony through brutal humor, maniacally snipping the arms off baby clothes and taunting the “smudge” until “it” miraculously responds. Or does it? A dark comedy about the changing face of the American family and the limits of love and cheesecake. This is not to be missed.
"For signs of intelligent life in the theatrical universe, I hereby refer you to "Smudge", Rachel Axler's pitch-black comedy". -Marilyn Stasio,Variety
"Creepy and funny. Precise and imaginative. Parenthood never looked weirder or more terrifying than it does in "Smudge"". - Rachel Saltz, The New York Times

Valerie Tibbets - Colby, the Mother
Erik James Morton -Nick, the Father
Chuck Messenger- Nick's brother
